Some of you may have heard that there will be a special Board of Directors meeting this coming week. Three Board members – Frances Mesirow, Collette Goslin and Marc Richman – have invoked a little known provision in our condo bylaws that allows a minority of the Board to call a meeting without the President’s consent. They scheduled it for a date and time when they knew that the President and at least one other Board member would not be available.
What could be the purpose of such a sneaky, underhanded move? The answer lies in the agenda they came up with: It includes several projects from the proposed $1.4 million special assessment package they tried to pass last year before owners rose up in protest. They know the rest of the Board strongly opposes such a special assessment and will not vote for it. However, if just one of the remaining Board members shows up at the meeting, they will have a quorum (sufficient number) to conduct business and can pass the special assessment on a 3-1 vote! I have also been told that the three minority Board members – cheered on by the losers of the recent Board election – plan to vote to “reorganize” the Board by appointing themselves as the new officers (including President and Treasurer) so they can take over International Village and return to the era of reckless runaway spending, big maintenance fee increases and huge special assessments.
This is the most brazen attempted coup d’etat in the history of International Village. The sore losers of the last election think they can overturn the voters’ clear verdict and go back to the policies you overwhelmingly rejected. But we can keep that from happening if the rest of the Board – the majority who represent you – doesn't show up. Without a quorum, the angry, bitter minority won’t be able to have a meeting – and we don’t plan to let them have one. So don’t bother showing up, because I won’t be.
They are losers in every sense of the word. I would like to see Marvin Tow and Sandra Best run for the board again next year. They will get even less votes than they got this time around. People can see right through them.

ReplyDeleteI sure hope, tomorrow night, is just about if all these accusations are true or not. I hope the comp tect, Jason and the AMG person that the comp tect is these to get the truth out. This will prove who is lying. God knows Weiss is just looking for another law suit. I wonder what took him so long!!! Let's get these people and get the truth out!!!

Yo he estado metida de cabeza en la oficina indagando sobre nuestras finansas y lo que he encontrado hasta ahora no ha hecho feliz a cierta gente; ellos ahora estan instigando para sacarme de mi posicion de Secretaria e impedir que la verdad salga a la luz. Les pido que no pierdan la fe que hasta ahora han tenido en mi y que asistan a la proxima reunion OFICIAL de la Junta Directiva el proximo Martes 22 de Abril a las 7 pm. ReplyDeleteAt beginning I thought, fire back an angry response so that those masses will know how furious I am at their stupidity and mindlessness, but as I started writing it occur to me what purpose would it serve they are superfluous and stupid little people.
They were many who cheered at the poisonous venom spewed at Board members who were not present and my anger turned to pity because I was studying a Shakespearian tragedy at play and shortly they will usher in their own demise.
I quote a wise man Nothing in the universe is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
I live in a condo association where not only some board members are bullies, but their supporters as well. We voted for a new board; let them do the job that for which they volunteered!
DeleteAlmost every day my mail box is filled with mean-spirited and vitriolic emails from one individual who constantly threatens and criticizes the new president and the new officers. He’s made them the targets of character assassinations, false, vicious lies/rumors and attacks at full force.
In my opinion, this is a smear campaign to discredit and ruin the reputations of the board’s majority.
There may also begin a petition to unjustly recall the board majority (based on false accusations) to suit their agendas. The recall will most likely happen simply because some disgruntled villagers, including the bullying board members, are using scare tactics and lies to con others in the community to sign the petition. It is disgusting and sad to see this going on, especially since the majority of the board is trying to fulfill their obligations as board members – to protect the community and the community’s fiduciary interest.
Whose interests are the bullies serving? Their own! They are more interested in protecting their own interests rather than the interests of the community.
To make matters worse, a unit owner who is a staunch supporter of the “old board” has taken it upon his head to go to the City of Lauderhill to incite and expedite an early 40-Year inspection on the Village.
No doubt the ones who are cheering him on can well afford to not only buy my property, but yours too. Unit owners, it’s time to stand up and be counted. It’s time to let your voices be heard if you truly care about your property in the Village, be sure to attend the next Board meeting on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 8:00 PM in the Clubhouse.

Bravo to the unit owner whose open letter says it all for many of the working people in the Village. Since I have lived here, I have seen boards come and go, and the last election was a no different, it was part of the democratic process. However, this is the first time that I have seen a group of people who lost an election, being so disrespectful to not only other unit owners, but to the new members on the board. The unit owners voted them out because they were not happy with their dictatorial way in which the village was being run.
ReplyDeleteThe old board represented a chosen few, and Jason, their “Guru”, and them controlled every part of this place. They banded together and created a small group of older people who are like a flock of sheep who follows the herdsman wherever he takes them. These devotees, without a doubt will do whatever they are asked to do, i;e; they become the “mouth-piece” for the losing side.

Marvin Tow was appointed President of the Board and when he got that position from Charlie the ex president, he was more like a puppet of Charlie’s who saw IV as a money-making place for himself and his cronies. If you haven’t done so in the past, read the letters that Ilan Weiss wrote about him. Go check your old emails.
The presidency went to Marvin Tow’s head, because he’s still not willing to give up a post that he and Sandra Best lost in a big way. They all act like spoilt kids who scream “give me the toy” even if it doesn’t belong to them! The healthy thing would have been to concede to their loss, but both of them keep hanging on and causing more and more strife around the village.
In the meantime, everyone says how much good AMG along with the “Guru” has done. For one, they gave us a big assessment on top of the one the Village people are paying already. With AMG, we got a high increase in maintenance last year and another this year, and the place still looks like a dump.
I firmly believe that this new board’s goal is to save this place, and all the people that work so hard to live here. Since they became board members all they have been getting is stubborn resistance from the cry babies.
Village people, they are on your side, and the last thing they want to do is take your place from you. Come to every board meeting and let your voices be heard. This place does not belongs to just a chosen few, it belongs to everyone rich and poor.
With all the behind-the-scenes cry for the resignation of the board, if this does happen, then maybe it’s time that we start looking into receivership. I am sure, if we get rid of the new board members and replace them with those of the past, a lot of properties will be bought by some greedy rich owners of International Village.

I would ask HAVE YOU NO SHAME the answer is no. For greater profits you are willing to destroy this place, creating division among the resident, we will witness to it that you fail in all your attempt to do so.
